STORY OF MUSA (ALAYHI AS-SALAAM) AND KHIDR Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) set out on a journey with his servant (Yushay Bin Noon) in search of Khidr. When they found him, Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) asked if he could follow him to learn his wisdom, Khidr said, “You will not be able to be patient with me.” Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) promised that he will try his best to be patient. Happy Land For Islamic Teachings Musa (alayhi as salaam) and Khidr went on a ship. During the journey Khidr damaged the ship by pulling one of it’s planks. Musa (alayhi as salaam) was shocked by this behavior and asks him why would he do such thing to people that had been nice to them. Khidr said to Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam), “Didn’t I tell you that you were not going to be able to be patient with me [and wait to ask questions until I myself explain things to you]?” Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) apologized and they continued the journey. Happy Land For Islamic Teachings Ramadan 1437 As they continued their journey they came across a boy. Khidr killed that boy. Musa (alayhi as-salaam) was upset and expressed his concern again. Khidr said to Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam), “Didn’t I tell you that you were not going to be able to be patient with me [and wait to ask questions until I myself explain things to you]?” Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) apologized and said to Khidr, “If I do this again, then you can send me away.” Happy Land For Islamic Teachings Ramadan 1437
“This is when me and you go our separate ways.” Musa (alayhi as salaam) and Khidr arrived in a village, its inhabitants were not hospitable to them and they didn’t treat them well. Yet, Khidr found a wall that was about to collpase. Khidr fixed the wall. Musa (‘alayhi as-salaam) commeted: “If you wanted, you could have asked to be paid for this job.” He thought Khidr was being so nice to the same people who refused them hospitality. He had damaged the ship because it belonged to poor people and he knew a bad king was stealing all boats from people. Khidr hoped to make it look damaged so the king would leave it. As for the boy, Khidr knew from the knowledge given to him by Allah swt that he was going to grow up to become a disbeliever, and his parents who were righteous would suffer because of him. Allah wanted to save them from it and give them a better child. When Khidr decided to mend the wall in the village where the people didn’t want to welcome them as guests, he did so because he knew that a good man had hidden a treasure for his children under it before he died; his children were still young and Allah wanted to wait until the two orphans had become adults for the treasure to be revealed.
