" Village Square is an example of what happens when the 'private sector' steps forward and invests into the inner city. By partnering with key stakeholders, the Strategic Action Council CDC is able to exceed its double bottom-line goals and improve our region." David Aubrey The Community Development Committee of The Strategic Action Council

Community Stabilization At Its Very Best PROJECT Village Square

To carry out this Broad Community Development Initiative with the Fund at its center, the SAC has created its Community Development Committee (CDC). The CDC is designed to reach even deeper into the Community. Key community leaders, churches and community organizations are represented to ensure that the Fund and the Initiative reach into and reflect the low and moderate income neighborhoods (LMI) that are the focus of the Initiative and the Fund. The CDC is also responsible for seeing that all the Initiatives of the SAC positively impact these low and moderate income (LMI) areas. The Community Development Committee (CDC) of the SAC

Sustaining decent, safe and sanitary housing is vital to the well-being of our neighborhoods. The preservation of 98 units of affordable housing at Village Square has made significant contributions to the revitalization, economic stability and the overall quality of life for this area while helping our most needy families move toward self sufficiency. This success would not be possible without this investment and the support and leadership of the many partners. Bonnie Moore Committee Co.Chair The Community Development Committee of

Red River Bank is pleased to be a major investor in the Community Development fund as well as the provider of the permanent financing for the Village Square Apartments. We believe that Village Square Apartments meet the double bottom line goals set by the community investment fund and make Shreveport a better place for all of its citizens. As a Community Bank, it is important to Red River Bank that everyone in our community be included in the success we hope to achieve. Red River Bank has six locations in Shreveport-Bossier and will continue to look for growth opportunities for our bank as well as our community. Harold Turner President Red River Bank

We are delighted to partner with the Village Square Project to help move families from homelessness to self- sufficiency. Providing a rate that these families can afford as they graduate from our program and become independent is vital to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Sarah Causey Director of PR & Volunteer Services Providence House

Vintage is pleased to be the Management Company of Village Square and to be working with the North Louisiana Community Development Fund I in making a difference in our community with this multifamily property. When we took over the management of the property, there was significant deferred maintenance which we have since corrected and we continue to renovate the interiors as the units turn. In addition to the physical challenges of Village Square, we have also worked hard to make sure that our residents understand and obey the rules and regulations so that the community is a safe place to live. We have also been able to create alliances with several local organizations who lease units for their client base because they like the upgraded units and they know that we will do our best to operate this complex is a professional manner. Because of the Funds commitment to Village Square and because of these efforts we are enjoying leased occupancies of 95%. We are delighted to partner with the Village Square Project to help move families from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Providing a rate that these families can afford as they graduate from our program and become independent is vital to breaking the cycle of homelessness. David Alexander VintageRealty Company
