Today’s Goals To learn more about the SABE GoVoter Project To talk about ways SABE Board Members can help collect Voter Experience Surveys we are going to talk about….

Today’s Goals To decide specific things board members can do to collect surveys To build stronger relationships between SABE, P&As and self-advocates across the country   we are going to talk about….

The Importance Of Voting Nothing is going to stop me!!! If you want your voice to be heard, you have to exercise your vote A Vote not casted is a vote not counted Share EAC Voting rights card Getting involved as an election worker Example: Votes that were very close West Virginia, tied and they pulled a name out of a bag People need to vote in local elections because of the important issues like transportation

GoVoter Purpose To collect stories that identifies issues with voting for people with disabilities To provide assistance to improve the voting experiences of voters with disabilities

GoVoter Purpose To increase the number of voters with disabilities through training using the GoVoter Toolkit To support Protection and Advocacy (P&A) organizations to work with self advocacy groups and to be a resource on voting rights

Two Major Activities GoVoter Distance Training: Annually host 4 webinars to teach self advocacy leaders and P&A staff how to use the SABE GoVoter Toolkit. Training has been done in more than 13 states. Voter Experience Surveys: P&As and Self Advocacy groups use a survey to gather personal experiences of voters with DD Anne Voter Experience Surveys: P&As from the Vote Assessment Advisory Committee volunteer to use a standardized survey to gather personal experiences of voters with DD Distance training: Host 4 webinars to teach self advocacy leaders and P&A staff how to use the VOTE Toolkit in their state

What Makes This Survey Unique? Voters with disabilities tell us in their own words about their voting experiences Use survey findings as a guide to improve voting for people with disabilities Summarizes national and state specific examples of what works well and does not work well

Strategies to Collect Surveys Create a state GoVoter Team Identify state and local agencies to send letter asking them to post survey on website and social media Create and train Interview Teams to go to local agencies to support people to complete the surveys Schedule meetings Now to talk about the survey and ways to help to complete it after Election Day
