CIHR provided infrastructure funds to establish 4 regional CRISM nodes  Prairie Node received $1.85M over 5 years to build viable capacity CIHR also provided operating funds for a national study Prairie Node received $1.1M to contribute to this project What is CRISM?

Four regional CRISM Nodes being developed Prairies: AB, SK, MB (Edmonton) NPI: Cam Wild Ontario (Toronto) NPI: Benedikt Fischer BC (Vancouver) NPI: Evan Wood Quebec/Atlantic (Montreal) NPI: Julie Bruneau

Prairie CRISM Node Executive Committee Cameron Wild U Alberta (Nominated PI) David Hodgins U Calgary (PI) Colleen Dell U Saskatchewan (PI) Allan Aubry Alberta Health Services (AHS; Principal Knowledge User) Stacey Petersen Alberta Addiction Service Providers (Principal Consumer Representative) Prairie CRISM Node

Challenges in the Prairie region treatment and prevention services that serve a diverse case mix of clients drawn from urban and rural populations – the latter who are often highly geographically dispersed high prevalence of SM among Indigenous peoples, the fastest-growing segment of urban populations in this Canadian region; and relatively limited research capacity (i.e., few faculty positions and trainees specifically allocated to addictions; limited in-house capacity for addiction research among service providers). Challenges in the Prairie region

CRISM Prairie Node: Objectives Create effective and trusting collaborative working relationships among our regional affiliates, Develop accessible resources for substance misuse interventions that are of value to researchers, service providers, and consumer advocates. CRISM Prairie Node: Objectives

Meeting goals and objectives Overall meeting goals? to provide opportunities for Node members to network and build collaborative relationships; to update members on Node activities and provide a forum for member input into existing and future Node projects   Meeting goals and objectives

Meeting goals and objectives Specific objectives of the meeting? provide opportunities for members (researchers, decision makers, service providers, and people with lived experience) to meet each other and to develop collaborative relationships and affiliations; provide learning opportunities for Node members about the state of addiction problems and interventions in our region, including Aboriginal perspectives; provide a forum for members to provide insights and guidance for 6 existing Node projects (OPTIMA national study, 2 regional demonstration projects, 3 Node development projects); provide an opportunity for members to brainstorm about new Node projects, reacting to regional strategic directions being taken by the Provinces and regional health authorities; provide a forum for member feedback on CRISM and Node functioning to date as well as ideas for Node sustainability. After the meeting we will invite you to complete an evaluation form to solicit your feedback on how well these goals and objectives were met. Meeting goals and objectives
