Community Interactions

What is a niche? Range of physical and biological conditions in which a species lives and is able to reproduce. Based on tolerance. Give an example of an environmental variable that affects the tolerance of a specific species.

Habitat The place where an organism lives.

Besides Predator/Prey, what other types of community interactions are there?

Competition Competitive exclusion principle-NO two species can occupy the same niche at same place and time.

Herbivory Grazers affect the size and distribution of plant populations.

Keystone species Sometimes the population of one species can have dramatic effects on the structure of a community. Example: Wolf keystone species
