Hydrogen atom transfer to a high-valent iron imido Developing Late Metal Oxo Complexes of Strongly Donating Ligands Jeremy M. Smith, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry New Mexico State University Hydrogen atom transfer to a high-valent iron imido S = 1 Fe≡N 1.618(3) Å Fe≡N–C 176.8(3)° Energetics determined by experimental (E1/2, pKa) and computational (pKa) methods Iron(IV) imido is a poor oxidant. Highly basic iron(III) imido provides thermodynamic driving force for hydrogen atom transfer.
