Courage and Resilience Magazine Performance Task AC Reading Courage and Resilience Magazine Performance Task

Review the Natural Disasters Section of the Magazine As a group, answer the close reading questions from Wind and Rebuilding Hope. Share and discuss your IAN responses from yesterday. Hold onto these as they may be useful for the next activity.

Make a Graffiti Wall Create a graffiti wall in your school about courage and resilience. It should be a collage of artwork, poetry, letters, photographs, stories, quotes, news articles, etc. that reflects what you learned from the Reader so far as well as from research into other courageous characters—real and fictional, past and present. Think about your classes, free reading, and other books we’ve read so far this year! Each student must contribute at least two things (one from the reader and one from other research to the wall and write a paragraph explaining how his or her contribution connects to the theme of courage and resilience.

Brainstorm From the Magazine From Other Sources Create some sort of graphic organizer to BRAINSTORM ideas you could include on a Graffiti Wall. Remember that you MUST include one piece from the magazine and one from another source. At this point, come up with as MANY as possible. From the Magazine From Other Sources
