Operational Lead Children and Young People The Child’s Journey GSCB Roadshows 2012 Suzanne Fallon Operational Lead Children and Young People Welcome to this years roadshows. We are building on the success and feedback of last years shows where over 600 professionals attended. This year the theme is Munro and the Child’s Journey.

Our challenge 3 Years ago not protecting CYP well We are sustaining improvements with hard work from GSCB, and all agencies Are we as confident about early intervention? And what about permanence?

The Munro Report – Key recommendations: No 2 – The inspection framework should examine the effectiveness of the contribution of all local services to the protection of children and young people. No10 -The government should place a statutory duty on LA’s and statutory partners to ensure the sufficient provision of local early help.

Joint inspection of multi-agency arrangements for the protection of children Ofsted Care Quality Commission Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons

Areas of Focus Effectiveness of services for children who may be at risk of harm  Effectiveness of the contributions of all local services –individually and in partnership   ‘Early identification’ and ‘early help’ firmly within scope   The experiences of children and young people

Timescales Ofsted inspection programme continues until introduction of the new joint inspections  Consultation ended on 2 October 2012  Publication of the arrangements by April 2013  New inspections begin by June 2013

Early Help/Early Intervention How do we define what this means? How will funding, policy changes and reforms in services affect what we can offer? What makes a difference for families? How do work together? How do we learn from best practice?

Example of good practice quote from parent/ child?
