What’s Happening in First Grade Campfire News Week of September 10-14 What’s Happening in First Grade Spanish Phrase of the Week is: ! No te rindas ! (Don’t give up!) Inquiry into Math: We will continue our Cluster 1 study . We will concentrate on not only reading, building and writing 2-digit numbers, but will identify the place value positions of tens and ones in each. Inquiry into Literacy: We will share the story Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. We will use the key details in the story to help us better understand our characters, how they are feeling and what in the story makes them feel a certain way. We will also make personal connections with the main character, and will practice sequencing the story as well. Writer’s Workshop/Social Studies: We will be writing about rules. We will describe how and why they are created, as well as their importance in our world. Inquiry into Science: We will begin our unit of study on Rocks and Minerals. We can’t wait to dig in and learn more about Earth’s materials!
