Thin film Interference Physical Optics Three phenomena that demonstrate the wave nature of light … Dispersion Diffraction Thin film Interference

Dispersion It turns out that the index of refraction of light depends upon the frequency of the light! This is what caused the rainbow we saw exiting the cylindrical lens while finding the critical angle for that material

Diffraction Three examples of light bending around obstacles: Young’s Double Slit Single Slit Diffraction Grating No pictures here because I don’t want to spoil the surprise!!

Thin Film Interference Two reflected light rays will interfere either constructively or destructively. This depends upon phase changes during reflection extra distance traveled by one wave
