The Nervous System by: Nutmeg and Lil Tris

What is the nervous system? The nervous system is a collection of nerves and known as neurons that transmit signals between different parts of the body.   How does it work?  The basic functioning of the nervous system depends a lot of tiny cells called neurons . The brain has billions of them, and they have many specialized jobs. For example, sensory neurons take information from the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin to the brain.

What is the role of the nervous system in the body? The spinal cord receives information from the skin, joints and muscles of your body. It also carries the nerves that control all your movements. Your brain is the most complex part of your nervous system. What are some disorders of the nervous system? Trauma Infections Structural defects Tumors Blood flow disruption Auto-immune-dissorders

What are the organs in the nervous system? The nervous system holds the brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, and all of the nerves that connect the organs with the rest of the body.

CNS and PNS Afferent and Efferent What is the difference? The peripheral nervous system (PNS) contains all of the nerves whereas the central nervous system (CNS) contains the brain and the spinal cord. Afferent and Efferent  Neurons that receive information from our sensory organs and transmit this information to the central nervous system are called Afferent neurons. Neurons that send impulses from the central nervous system to your limbs and organs are called Efferent neurons.
