My Cougar By Cylis

This Animal’s Biome is… The Cougar’s range extends in Northern Canada {south of the Artic} south through the United States, Central America, and into Argentina. The Cougar home, or habitat within its huge range can be forest, brushland, grassland, or semi-desert. The cougar is one of the most diverse animals when it comes to the habitat that they live in. The cougar is able to live in the mountains of Colorado to the swamps of Florida. Cougars used to live all through out the USA. They live mainly west of the Mississippi and a small population lives in Florida (Florida Panther). Many sightings are still reported east of the Mississippi River.

The Plants in the Cougar’s Biome… One plant in my animal’s biome is the Mesquite tree. The Mesquite tree has long roots to help it get water.

Plant Adaptations The plants in the desert lands the have prickles on them to protect it from things that want to eat it .

This animal eats… Cougars eat moose, elk, deer, and hares.

Cougar Adaptations Sharp claws help them catch animals. Their back teeth are flat to help them grind their food. The front canine teeth help them tear their food. They have a strong sense of smell to help them track down their food. Their strong muscles help them run fast to catch their prey.

This Animals Predators… Cougars are endangered because of the human race. We have taken over all of their land.

Defenses Against Predators Sometimes cougars attack people if they feel threatened. They usually try to stay away from humans.
