Finding Area…With Calculator

OBJECTIVE Find the area under a standard normal curve using a GDC.

RELEVANCE Find probabilities and values of populations whose data can be represented with a normal distribution.

Finding area with calculator…… Go to 2nd vars Press 2:normalcdf Input two numbers: (where you start shading, where you end shading) Example: Find the area between z=0 and z=2.34. NOTE: The new operating system will be slightly different.

Find the area between z = 0 and z = -1.75. Answer: 0.4599

Find the area to the right of z = 1.11. Answer: 0.1335

Find the area to the left of z = -1.93. Answer: 0.0268

Find the area between z = 2 and z = 2.47. Answer: 0.0160

Find the area between z = -0.83 and z = -2.48. Answer: 0.1967

Find the area between z = -1.37 and z = 1.68. Answer: 0.8682

Find the area to the left of z = 1.99. Answer: 0.9767

Find the area to the right of z = -1.16. Answer: 0.8770
