FY17 close Research funding is increasing at UVA impressively in a hypercompetitive environment 8% dollar value growth from FY15 to FY16; 10% dollar value growth from FY16 to FY17 Growth is across federal agencies and business sectors as well as schools/disciplines This is not happening everywhere Some highlights: NIH funding is up 9% NSF funding is up 19% Department of Energy is up 17%

Looking ahead While the growth has strained current infrastructure We are making progress in the development of a preaward enterprise system (ResearchUVA) Electronic Proposal Routing Form (ePRF) soft launched on 7/1/17 Account modification forms (SP23, SP30) and workflow scheduled for FY18 delivery We are now commencing work to interface ResearchUVA and Oracle This will gain OSP significant efficiencies in the account establishment function We are improving our reporting ability and execution (the Juice application in ResearchUVA will launch soon) Proposal data quality remains a significant reporting--and transactional--issue We continue to make hires from top research institutions/organizations that will add to the operational strength of preaward and postaward administration, as well as information/data Preaward has made 2 recent hires and is constantly engaged in recruitment
