Answer the following questions: Neo-classical painter Jacques-Louis David advised, “Never let your brushstrokes show.” Good advice? From the perspective of the artist and the viewer, what are the pros and cons of letting brushstrokes show? Choose one of the following pieces to analyze using the elements of art/design. Discuss the artist’s use of color, light, line, balance, perspective, etc. as part of the overall composition. How does the artist’s use of these things impact the role of the viewer in interpreting the scene?
