Wealthy Wishes and Mystical Magic By Sydney Finch and Lilly Schlemmer If you had three wishes, what would you wish for? This may be a fantasy to some people, but in these two mystical stories, it comes to life starting with just two words, I WISH…… Many similarities and differences occur in both Monkey’s Paw, By W. W. Jacobs, and Aladdin, By Disney. In “Monkeys Paw” and “Aladdin”, both stories display characters wishing for their life to become better. In the “Monkey’s Paw”, Mr. White was “hypnotized” by the idea of being granted three wishes. However, he did not know that those three wishes would lead his life to terrible misfortune. In “Aladdin”, a genie comes upon a young street rat, Aladdin, and offers him three wishes. Although, this was tempting to Aladdin, he later finds out that those three wishes cause him trouble and mischief with a dazzling princess that needs to marry, Jasmine. In the end, each character in both stories learn a valuable lesson that will dictate how they live their life. Lilly and Sydney 12/2/2018

Comparisons and Contrasts of Monkey’s Paw and Aladdin’s 1st wish Monkey’s Paw 1st Wish Aladdin’s 1st Wish Mr. White wishes for $500 Aladdin wishes to be a prince- rich These wishes are similar because they both wish for a rich life style. “I wish for five hundred dollars, Mr. White said very clearly.” Aladdin requested, “Genie, I wish to be a prince.” However, Mr. White wishes for physical money, and Aladdin wishes to be a prince which would make him rich. 12/2/2018 Lilly

Comparisons and Contrasts of Aladdin’s and Monkey’s Paw 3rd Wish Aladdin’s 3rd Wish Monkey’s Paw 3rd Wish Wished genie free These two wishes are not similar because Aladdin’s wish brings joy by keeping his promise to free the genie and Mr. White’s wish brings sorrow because he does not listen to his wife and he wishes his son away. Mr. White wished for the knocking on the front door to stop 12/2/2018 Lilly and Sydney
