Vauxhall Mallards CC Newsletter – June 2016 Brads hits milestone! When taking the wicket of Bury St. Edmunds CC James Lofts on Saturday 4th June 2016, not only did it reduce the Suffolk outfit to 144/7 (chasing 221), it was also a landmark moment in the Vauxhall Mallards career of our own Paul Bradshaw, who incredibly took his 1000th wicket for the club. After joining us from Sprowston in 1995 at the youthful age of 16, Paul is now in his 22nd full year at the club (14 years as captain) and not only has he taken on average 46 wickets per season, his career bowling average at the club is a remarkable 14.8 with a very stingy economy rate of under 3 runs per over. To go with those great bowling statistics , Paul has also amassed over 5200 runs in his Vauxhall Mallards career at an average of over 25. The batting technique may not be quite as textbook as his bowling, but has certainly helped get the team out of some very difficult positions over the years, including the game pictured below versus Bury St. Edmunds in 2015. He may have lost a yard or two of pace over the last few years but Paul is testament that if you bowl consistently in the right areas, you will get your rewards. This is evidenced in Paul taking 20 wickets in the month of June, securing him the 1st XI player of the month! Well Done Brads, an amazing effort over the years, we look forward to a ‘few’ more!! May 2015

Vauxhall Mallards CC Newsletter – June 2016 Vauxhall Mallards CC Annual Race Night Thanks to everyone who attended and/or bought a horse! Thanks to Caroline Nunn & Carl Amos for the organising and to Lyn Kitson & Kate Bowman for their support on the evening! Thanks to those who sponsored a race and/or bought an auctioned horse! Thanks to Steve Utting for compering on the evening! We managed to raise over £1100!!! Well Done Everyone!

Vauxhall Mallards CC Newsletter – June 2016 Junior Results Under 13’s A strong month for the Under 13’s winning 4 games and their only defeat coming in the final of ECB competition against Swardeston. There were numerous stand out performances throughout the whole side in June, however, due to the consistency shown in all the fixtures, the player of the month award is awarded to Will Bowman. Under 15’s A mixed month for the Under 15’s, comprehensively beating Acle in the league before defeat to rivals Swardeston in the semi finals of the ECB competition. Two solid batting performances from Hudson De Lucchi, but he narrowly missed out on the player of the month award due to Charlie Barber’s exploits against Swardeston in the semi final, returning figures of 3/6. Under 9’s No completed fixtures so far Under 11’s Just the one fixture completed in June against Sprowston which included a very impressive performance from Joe Catchpole, taking 4/6 from 3 overs! What’s coming up… Junior training continues every Friday evening from 18:15 onwards! 2 day junior camp running on 26th & 27th July We will be holding our first ever junior festival (U9, U11, U13 & U15) in August For more information on any of the above, please contact Luke Caswell.

Vauxhall Mallards CC Newsletter – April / May 2016 Senior Cricket Update New T20 Kit 1st XI The 1st XI lost a bit of ground on the league leaders in June, a month dominated by the weather. They are currently 35 points behind in 4th place at the half way stage so still have plenty to play for. There was disappointment in losing to Swardeston in the NT20 after dominating much of the game before rain brought a premature end with us slightly behind on run rate. We look like getting through to the semi finals of the HT20 after 2 wins and a defeat, with the highlight being Mitchell Todd’s magnificent 171 versus Sprowston. 2nd XI A great start to the month with 2 victories, a narrow 2 wicket win at Beccles where Pearce and Ing guided the team home with an unbeaten 9th wicket stand of 21. That was followed up with a comfortable victory over Swardeston with Larter hitting a century and Mark Pepper getting 4 wickets on his debut! A little momentum was lost with a defeat at Hethersett & Tas Valley after being put in on a wet wicket before a washout at home to Brooke, which has left the team in 3rd place but only 4 points off top position. Sunday XI There was only one completed fixture in June with a comprehensive victory over Swanton Morley. There were runs for Connor Green and the Sunday specialist Luke Caswell. Julian Brown then used all his flight and guile to take 4/12 leaving the team in mid table. For individual performances, please see the rolling honours board on page 5
