Project Based Learning Social Studies Mrs. Strope It Costs How Much? Project Based Learning Social Studies Mrs. Strope

Oil Facts: How much do we use? The world oil market produces 76 million barrels a day The United States, with 5% of the world's population, consumes 20 million barrels, or 26% of the world's total. The United States has only 3% of the world's known oil reserves. Imports account for 60% of America's daily oil consumption, Transportation (auto, truck, aircraft, military), plastics and food energy demands are nearly 100% exclusively dependent on oil, although USA-based oil reserves and production are declining - - causing a soaring dependence on foreign supply. Before 1950, including during World War II, America produced more oil than needed, even exporting to other nations.
