MONDAY, APRIL 20th QW – Is censorship ever okay? Explain & justify. Book censorship has been a controversial topic for decades.  Write an argumentative piece that argues in favor or against book censorship and support with evidence from sources provided.  Remember to acknowledge the other side and knock it down. Save your strongest evidence for the last. You may give examples from past and current events or issues to illustrate and clarify your position. 10 SENTENCE STRUCTURE ALL SOURCES ARE AVAILABLE ON: http://sayoung001.wix.com/bookcensorship

REMEMBER IN TEXT CITATIONS

SENTENCE STRUCTURES In your 10 sentence structure: Vary your sentence lengths Create varied intensity Give depth 

Research Steps Step 1: Read through the question carefully. Make sure you know what the question is asking. Step 2: On your note paper, simplify what the question is asking you to do. Put it in your own words. Step 3: Circle (or make note) of the minimum amount of sources you need. Step 4: Take notes with each of the sources. Address the source’s main points. Step 5: How reliable is the source? Is it slanted in any way? Step 6: Choose the sources that you are most comfortable with. Step 7: In your source chart, copy your notes from the sources into each. Step 8: Now, look at the relationships of your sources. Do they agree with each other? Do they disagree?

TUESDAY QW – Clarisse has been described as antisocial, different, or even creepy by some of you. Would she be considered creepy or different in the 1950s? Was there ever a time period she wouldn’t be considered different? What does this tell you about current day? Continue from yesterday. 

WEDNESDAY Place your argumentative response into the inbox. QW – Write about anything you want.  PEER EDITS Use the 10 sentence structure as your guide, and mark all the components on their paper. Make note of any missing pieces. Write a response of strengths and weaknesses at the bottom of their paper. Sign your name on the bottom of the paper.  When you get your paper back, correct your paper, etc. Turn in to the inbox. Read 

PAP ASSIGNMENT DUE MONDAY WEDNESDAY – PAP PAP ASSIGNMENT DUE MONDAY “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury The story is on the website Read with questions  Last name A-G ODD Last name H-Z EVEN

Utopias – Based on Underlying Philosophical Ideas Economic utopias are generally against commerce and capitalism and call for equitable distribution of goods and work and abolition of money. Religious utopias attempt to establish communities of virtue. Scientific or technological utopias set in the future demonstrate the results of advanced scientific or technological changes.
