Introduction to the Gospel of Luke Introduction to the Gospel of Luke. Vs 1-4 The Gospel addressed to Theophilus. The theme of Luke’s Gospel.

The birth of John is foretold The birth of John is foretold. Luke gives us the historical setting for the Gospel. Vs 5-7 Exodus 28:1 God spoke to Zechariah through the angel Gabriel. Vs 8-17 Like most people, Zechariah wanted to be sure. Vs 17-25

Why is this story of John important Why is this story of John important? God is beginning to speak to man again. With the prediction of John’s birth, God was back. Matt 28:20, John 10:10 Next week: The Birth of Jesus Foretold. Luke 1:26-38
