Learning Disabilities and Abilities Dyslexia and ADD

Objectives To experience visual and auditory perception learning disabilities To ascertain the optimal individual learning modality

Learning Disabilities Many students have learning disabilities Both teachers and students need to find out what this experience is like for those who learn with such challenges Most common Dyslexia & ADD

Dyslexia Characterized by visual and auditory perception difficulties Current research focuses on the brain for the cause rather than the personality or conduct of the individual

Attention Deficit Disorder Characterized by visual and auditory perception difficulties Easily distracted Extreme difficulty paying attention for any length of time Sometimes accompanied by hyperactivity (ADHD)

Modality Students learn best in a particular modality Visual, auditory, or tactile If students are aware of their best learning style studying is easier and more effective
