John Reynolds -royal governor He wanted colonists to run gov’t Self-government The government would be made up of a two-part law-writing body. Commons House Governor’s Council

Self-government Anyone who had 50 acres could vote. Anyone with 500 acres could be in the Commons Assembly. They wrote laws Only the King could appoint members of the Governor’s Council. They made laws, advised the governor, granted land, were judges.

Self Government Continued Reynolds also set up a court system. The Court of Conscience Settle colonists’ disputes

Governor James Wright Took over when Ellis got sick Made the defense around Savannah stronger Promoted economic growth in GA. Expanding the plantations, farming, made GA thrive. Division between rich and poor grew!!

Late Colonial Period Growth Towns began to spread in land and away from Savannah Sunbury became the official port instead of Savannah Rice and Indigo became key crops. They were even growing some tobacco
