Overview 39 Years 23 Committees Europe, Japan, Korea, NA, Taiwan, China 4188 Members 843 Standards
HB-LED and 3DS-IC Committees Following PV model – dedicated, new individual committee Formed late 2010 – first standards expected late 2011/early 2012
PV First PV-specific Standards Committee formed in 2007 PV Automation and PV Materials Committee also now formed 33 Standards published to date Focus is on equipment and materials, possible opportunities in cell/module SEMI PV17 (Silicon Feedstock spec) and SEMI PV2 (equipment communication) are the best-selling new standards in recent years Big Challenge/Opportunity: China PV Standards Committee
Regulations 1.5.3 Regional Participation — Increase the participation of all regions of the world in the generation and promotion of SEMI Standards, thereby ensuring that SEMI Standards represent an international consensus. Develop and maintain SEMI Standards procedures to promote communication and interaction among all levels of the organization and amongst the various geographical regions.

Are all these activities necessary? Currently over 360 activities underway, and 320 ballots/year Supporting nonessential activities diminishes support (both member and staff) for more critical activities
Committee effectiveness metrics ISC developing a template, with agreed-upon metrics, to measure effectiveness of committees SEMIViews usage statistics will provide data on which standards are being used. Strengthen SNARF Industry Representation TC, RSCs, ISC Self-assessment survey: Do these committees adequately represent the industry? What companies are missing?
