Moon Vocabulary (from worksheet)

Apparent motion--The observed motion of a heavenly body across the celestial sphere, assuming the Earth is at the sphere's center and is standing still.

Celestial body--Astronomical objects are significant physical entities, associations or structures which current science has confirmed to exist in space

Celestial sphere-An immense sphere surrounding Earth, to which the fixed stars seen at night appear to be attached. Although strictly speaking such a sphere does not exist, it is often used as a convenient tool for mapping the position of stars and other heavenly bodies.

Occultation—hidden or difficult to see Revolution--a complete circle made around something Rotation--a turning motion like that of earth around an axis or a fixed point

Satellite--an object put into orbit around Earth or another planet in order to relay communications signals or transmit scientific data an astronomical object that orbits a larger one
