Mrs. Carter’s Classroom Procedures, Expectations, & Consequences

Meet Mrs. Carter Live in Olive Branch Birthday-August 15th Married to James for 24 years One daughter, Paige – 22 years old One son, AJ – 19 years old Graduated from Ole Miss Have been teaching for 18 years Enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and swimming

Class rules / Expectations All students are entitled to a distraction free classroom that promotes a better learning environment. Be prepared to learn Be respectful: Listen while others are talking Follow directions first time given Work quietly and do not disturb others Keep hands, feet, objects, and negative comments to yourself

Consequences Verbal Warning (1) Teacher/student meeting (2) Silent lunch or walk 3 laps at recess (3) Classroom conduct note & parent phone call (4) Office referral

Rewards 1 subject/assignment homework pass Computer pass Lunch with a friend Whole class rewards

Come Prepared to Learn Bathe Breakfast Brush teeth & hair Deodorant Smile Bring all items necessary for class: Homework Lunchbox or lunch money Binder/folders

Morning Procedure C- Coats & backpacks hung up H- Homework turned in A- All notes & lunch money on my desk M- Make lunch choice P- Pencils sharpened & prepared to learn S- Start morning work

Bathroom Breaks Never more than 3 people at a time Wash hands before leaving No more than 3 presses on the paper towel dispenser Line up quietly in number order

Pencil Sharpening Get 2 fresh pencils from the basket at the start of each day Place unsharpened pencils back in the basket to be sharpened by helpers If you break both pencils during the day, you will have to use a crayon

Groups No tattle zone! G- Get along R- Respect others O- On task U- Use quiet voices P- Participate S- Stay in your group No tattle zone!

Hallway Behavior Line up in your designated spot Face forward Keep hands, feet, and all comments to yourself Quiet voices Walk with the group

Cafeteria Walk quietly in line in cafeteria Walk down to end of tables coming straight out the door and walk to our designated table Left side of table stands first to empty trays; then right side follows around to the left side to empty their trays Line up quietly; face forward to leave Cafeteria helpers will clean our table area

Transitioning & Asking Questions When teacher gives a signal: Hand up- Come to Attention (Close mouth and Listen) T- Time out, slow or stop to explain 3 finger up- 3rd block Round up- Go back to your seat Get other students to pay attention by raising your hand to signal them to follow my directions Students: Hand up- Ask question Fist up- Restroom

Slant to keep focused S- Sit up L- Lean forward A- Attention N- Nod when you get it or if you don’t T- Track me

Big No No! Interruptions Speaking over others Playing & distracting your classmates’ learning Raising hand to go to restroom during instructional time Big No No!

Classroom Library Find “Good Fit” books Learn about different genres If you decide you want to take a book to read, it must be checked out on clipboard Any damages must be paid for, so please handle with care Return book to its correct color coded bin Librarian will check the bins at the end of the day
