Oregon Tech Reporting From 1998 - Today
Who are we? Wendy Ivie – A Simple Registrar Ben Kintner – FAST User Extraordinaire Anna LaGreca – Business Systems Analyst
Where we were(n’t) in 1998 HR/Finance reporting was housed in system hosted by state of OR but Student was at OT Reporting was difficult, data labels weren’t clear, joins were cranky Only the most advanced user in the Registrar’s Office could produce the simplest queries Data was updated nightly and the only frozen data we could use were frozen state files that were manipulated by our IR department using SAS
Banner Programmers OT relied heavily on our programmers to develop our own reporting tool using customized reports in Banner Pros – data was clean, current, our users were familiar with Banner Cons – only people with Banner access to those reports could get them, reports were Banner clunky, our Programmers were drowning
ODS/EDW OT purchased ODS/EDW and began training our funky techs and programmers Consultants were hired and many hours where spent in training courses where we began to set up the warehouse, learn metadata definitions, wade through decision making points Users eyes became clouded over It became obvious that ODS/EDW was not just a simple tool that just anyone could use for us at OT Still relied heavily on Banner programmers
Fast! Great Scott! Millennium's FAST. During the ODS/EDW implementation on the Student side our Finance/HR/Financial Aid/Budget offices were using a product called FAST. Currently we own Finance, HR, Financial Aid, Budget and Student. Best company to assist with the flexibility of OUR needs Banner XE and our homegrown ‘reports’ are bye-bye
