6 Man Mechanics for the Wings

PREGAME Active participant in the pregame Get on same page with the other wing official LOS signals Rules Administrative Everyone on same page

BEFORE THE GAME R and U meet with head coach of each team Captains, time, other info Observe QBs, backs, line and kickers during warm up Police warm-ups

COIN TOSS 5 Minutes before kickoff, walk with U to midfield Get visiting team choice Confirm with home team Toss and catch Keep it simple Position captains before signaling Repeat and record with crew Break for kickoff position

FREE KICKS End zone deeper than receiver in middle of field Signal U Mark ball ready Responsible for 4 players on either side of the kicker Ball carrier (unless H/L) Goal responsibility Help watch blocks Clean up on long runbacks

SCRIMMAGE PLAYS Have a pre-snap routine and use it Know when and how to mark the ball ready for play Normal starting position is 12-14 yards deep. Throwing arm side of QB Outside the TE position –wider is better See the ball Count Team A and signal U Be alert for Team A substitution situations

SCRIMMAGE PLAYS Responsible for QB and ball behind the line Takes tackle on opposite side Helps with blocks in backfield Responsible for Team A goal Must get to side zone and side line Can help spot the ball Must not give up QB after pass Dead ball officiate

PUNTS Even with or deeper than punter Wider than scrimmage plays See the ball Help with eligible receivers Count Team A Watch action around kicker Pick up flight of kick and move into position to line up sideline official on OOB kick Clean up Get to goal line if necessary

FIELD GOAL AND KICK TRY Even with or deeper than holder Wider than scrimmage plays Count Team A See the ball Help with eligible receivers Observe kicker and holder Be alert for blocked kicks and fakes Signal good/no good

PENALTY ENFORCEMENT Slow down Listen Ask questions Repeat what you hear Communicate with the U Say what you are going to say before you turn the mic on and say it Give great signals Look like you know what you are doing
