Feedback from people with learning disabilities Support with Universal Credit

Universal Credit When people claim universal Credit they will have to do it online. They will have to manage their online account.

We spoke to 33 people Some of them live independently Others live with family or in shared Lives schemes. Some are in sheltered housing or group homes.

People told us it is hard to understand letters and information about benefits They need to get support from staff, support workers, family and carers.

Everybody we spoke to said they need support to fill out a form It is really important that forms are filled out properly and on time

Some people have no one to ask for help Other people have to wait a long time for help This can cause trouble with claims and make people feel worried.

11 people have a computer that they can get to. Everyone said they would need support to fill in a form online.

2 people have online bank accounts. 11people have email addresses. No one uses accounts or passwords without support.

Families, carers and support workers are worried that online claims will be difficult. They are worried about what happens if they get it wrong

They are worried they won’t be able to do it. They might not have the time to give help when someone needs it

Everyone wants clear information about Universal Credit . They want to know what to do.
