Thank You, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Chaparro 5th Grade class news 10/2-10/6 Book Fair Fun Thank you for supporting Greenback’s Book Fair! The students loved getting books and are excited to read them during RTI’s sustained silent reading time. Math: Common Core 4, Week 3 Decimal Division, Continued Science (5B Rotation) Chapter 1, continued: “From Cells to Ecosystems” Social Studies: (5A Rotation) “Pre-civil War“ Brook’s attack on Sumner John Brown’s Raid Dred Scott case Student work is text dependent and supports the E.L.A. standards. Our Assessment will be Friday the 6th. A study guide will be completed together in class Wednesday. We will play a review game on Thursday. I highly recommend students bring their study guide back Thursday and Friday.  E.L.A: After Fall Break, we will begin our new novel “The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Fig” by Rodman Philbrick. Feel free to purchase a personal copy for your child, however purchasing a book in NOT required. E.L.A Homework: I am starting a new homework routine. Read the homework’s cover sheet for the directions and details. Reading Homework Week of the 2nd: Plenty of Pumpkins We will be reading the last part of “Wonder” and doing a cumulative test and activity: Skills: Summarizing Text Generating Ideas Determining the Main Idea and Details Determining Theme Making Inferences Identifying and Decoding Unknown Words Identifying and Using Prepositions Writing Meaningful Sentences Organizing, Composing Editing, and Publishing Narrative Writing Thank You, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Chaparro
