A culture's values are its ideas about what is good, right, fair, and just.

Independent Practice Individually, brainstorm a list of what you think are American values (Aim for 10) Get with one neighbor and discuss your lists (Compare/Contrast) Explain why you chose what you did. Together create a list of what you both agree are values.

Real culture refers to the values and norms that a society actually follows, while ideal culture refers to the values and norms that a society professes to believe.
