What Must I Do to Be Saved? A Most Important Question That All Men Need to Ask! Title Slide: What Must I Do to BE Saved?

God Desires Salvation for All Men Provided by God’s grace. Ephesians 2:8,9 Why did He die? Romans 3:26 Penalty for sin? Romans 6:23 God Desires Salvation for All Men! Provided by God’s grace—Eph.2:8,9; Why did He die? That God might be just—Rom.3:26; What is the penalty for sin? DEATH! Gen.2:17; Ezek.18:20; Rom.6:23. Justice demands death!

God Desires Salvation for All Men All have sinned Romans 3:23 God loved us Romans 5:6-11 John 3:16 God Desires Salvation for All Men! All have sinned—Rom.3:23; 1 Jno.1:8; God loved us—Rom.5:6-11; Jno.3:16. God desires salvation for every man—1 Tim.2:4; 2 Pet.3:9—made it possible to be accomplished!

Salvation Is Not by Grace Only If so, all would be saved! Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11 Christ died for all. 1 Timothy 2:6; Hebrews 2:9 All will not be saved. Matthew 7:13,14 Salvation Is Not by Grace Only! If so, all would be saved! Acts 10:34; Rom.2:11 Christ died for all—1 Tim.2:6; Hebrews 2:9. All will not be saved—Matt.7:13,14; 1 Pet.4:17.

Salvation Is Not by Grace Only Dividing line—man’s part John 8:24; Hebrews 11:6 Grace teaches obedient faith. Titus 2:11,12 God’s grace provided the means. John 12:27 Salvation Is Not by Grace Only! Dividing line is man’s part being fulfilled! Jno.8:24; Heb.11:6 Grace teaches obedient faith—Titus 2:11,12. God’s grace provided the means for making salvation a reality! (Jno.12:27)

God “Justifies” Believers Grace through faith Romans 3:24-26 We cannot earn our salvation. Romans 10:1-4 We must have obedient faith and walk with Him. Hebrews 5:8,9 God “Justifies” Believers! Grace through faith! Rom.3:24-26; Eph.2:8. We cannot earn or merit our salvation—Not by law of Moses. (Rom.3:28-4:12) Not by our own righteousness (Rom.10:1-4; Titus 3:5) Must have obedient faith and walk with Him daily! (Heb.5:8,9; Jno.6:29)

Salvation Is Not by “Faith Only” Saving faith is obedient. James 2:14-26 Faith alone cannot save. John 12:42,43 Those who have obedient faith become servants of righteousness. Romans 6:16-18 Salvation is not by “Faith Only!”! Saving faith obeys! (Jam.2:14-26) Faith alone cannot save anyone! (Jno.12:42,43; Jam.2:19) Those who have obedient faith become servants of righteousness. (Rom.6:16-18; Eph.2:10).

Grace and Faith Illustrated Israel did not escape Egypt by its own strength. It was by God’s Grace. By faith, they obeyed and performed a “work of God.” Exodus 12:3-14 Hebrews 11:28 Exodus 12:20-30 Grace and faith are illustrated by Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. BY GRACE—Israel did not escape by their own strength. By FAITH—They obeyed when they performed a work of God by sprinkling the blood on the doorposts, Exo.12:3-14; Heb.11:28. Were they saved after the lamb was slain? Or because they trusted in the Lord only? They were safe only when by faith they obeyed and trusted in the Lord to bring them freedom! Exo.12:20-30.

When Do We Apply the Atoning Blood of Christ? If saved, must be through His blood. Matthew 26:28; Revelation 1:5 Baptism is said to accomplish. Acts 2:38; 22:16 Why? It’s how we reach the death of Christ. Romans 6:3-5 1 Peter 3:21 When do we Apply the Atoning Blood of Christ? If we’re saved, it must be through His blood. (Matt.26:28; Rev.1:5) Baptism is said to accomplish the same. (Acts 22:16; Acts 2:38) WHY? Not two ways of salvation, nor a contradiction in the Bible. Neither is baptism a work of human merit--earning salvation. Baptism is the means through which we reach Christ’s death. (Rom.6:3-5) This is why “Baptism saves us…(Mk.16:16; 1 Pet.3:21)

Cases of Conversion Case Believe Repent Confess Baptized Acts 2:36 Jews Acts 2:36 Acts 2:38 Samaritans Acts 8:12 Acts 8:12ff Eunuch Acts 8:36-37 Acts 8:37 Acts 8:38 Saul Acts 22:16 Cornelius Acts 10:43 Acts 11:15 Acts 10:48 Lydia Acts 16:15 Jailor Acts 16:31 Acts 16:33 Corinthians Acts 18:8 Cases of Conversion in the Book of Acts.

Then—What Is Your Condition WITHOUT Baptism? If, when baptized, you: Put on Christ Galatians 3:27 Wash away sins Acts 22:16 Have sins remitted Acts 2:38 Are free from sins Romans 6:17,18 Benefit from His death Romans 6:3,4 Enter Christ’s body 1 Corinthians 12:13 Then—What Is Your Condition WITHOUT Baptism? Explain the chart…
