Title I Schoolwide Programs

What is a Title I Schoolwide? A comprehensive reform strategy to improve the academic achievement of all students in the school, particularly the lowest achieving students.

Advantages of Becoming SW Focus on ALL children Work together to address the needs of students in an integrated way Spend resources in ways determined by the building to raise the achievement of children

Three Core Elements 1. Comprehensive Needs Assessment 2. 2-5 Year Action Plan 3. Annual Evaluation

Three Core Elements Comprehensive needs assessment of the entire school to determine the performance of its students in relation to the state’s content and performance standards.

Three Core Elements 2. A 2-5 Year Action Plan 10 Required Components of the SW Plan Schoolwide reform strategies that are research based: 1. Impact ALL children 2. Increase the amount and quality of learning time, such as before or after school and summer school 3. Address the needs of struggling students with “timely, effective assistance”

Three Core Elements 10 Required Components of the SW Plan 4. Instruction by highly qualified teachers 5. High quality and ongoing professional development 6. Strategies to attract highly qualified teachers

Three Core Elements 10 Required Components of the SW Plan 7. Strategies to increase parent involvement 8. Plans for assisting students in transition 9. Implementation of ongoing academic assessments 10. Coordination and integration of federal, state, and local services and programs
