Lung Cancer Pathways: Interim Report Ed Nicolle, Cancer Services Manager, RUH

ACE Programme - Completion of six local project evaluations Accelerate, Coordinate, Evaluate NHS England initiative Supported by CRUK and Macmillan Projects in several tumour sites Aim of achieving earlier diagnosis through streamlined diagnostic pathways Phase One to conclude by end of 2016: - Completion of six local project evaluations - Analysis of national data sets vs actual pathways

Interim findings Wide pathway variation across the UK Scope for improvement requiring: - support from commissioners - dedicated project management - clinical leadership from primary and secondary care

Interim findings All patients to have CT before 2ww appointment Patients discharged via letter following normal CT result – not requiring clinic appointment Variation in scan turnaround times Advice and guidance system for GPs – commissioned Radiographers to report on CXR Standardised image reporting tool, supporting radiologists and ensuring GPs understand recommended actions One-stop diagnostic clinics
