At the heart of our community transforming lives with love

Open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30am – 3pm. Everyone is welcome, with 1:1 support, advice and counselling available. Issues helped include homelessness, unemployment, budgeting, addiction, domestic abuse, physical and mental health problems etc

In the last year in the café… Over 2,000 hours of support, advice and counselling given to 265 people Over 7,000 meals served (509 of which were free) Over 9,400 visits to the café in total

Nightshift: teams of volunteers patrol the streets of Exmouth from 9:30pm til 1am on Saturday nights, working with the police and cctv teams to keep people safe.

Nightshift stats for 2017… 24 people emotionally supported/brought back to cafe 49 acts of giving (water, hot drinks, space blankets, sleeping bags, flip flops) 12 first aid situations / ambulance called 3 volatile situations diffused And 560 bottles and glasses safely disposed of!

child contact centre: provides a safe, friendly and supportive environment for children from separated families to meet with their absent parent.

Through the Child Contact Centre last year… 11 referring families 18 children spending quality time with their parent, who they otherwise would not see “Thank you for the help and support that you, and the staff, have given to George* and myself. It was great to know, that despite the difficult circumstances that I found myself in, George was able to see his Dad in a safe and peaceful environment. It also gave George, and myself, space to think and work through emotions that we both were feeling at the time. I will never forget the care and consideration shown to us, thank you.”

Bringing men from all walks of life together, to share friendships and work on projects for the benefit of the local community.

Men’s Shed attendances last year: 2,800 “I went to the Open Door Men’s Shed as I was practically a recluse only going out every two or three weeks to do some shopping. I needn’t have been worried everyone was very welcoming. It was exactly what I was looking for, somewhere to socialise with other men and learn new skills. I had a go at different types of woodwork before I found the scroll saw and instructor Syd. I have been learning the scroll saw for about a year under Syd’s excellent instruction and have now reached intermediate level this year. The Men’s Shed is great. It gives me something worthwhile to do during the day.” From this… to this…

ICE project: supporting young people via a daily drop in space, events, and mentoring programme

ICE - Inspire. Champion. Equip - The Hub - Mentoring - Transition Day - ICE Awards - CU, LZ7, Prayer support… and lots more planned!

Monday evenings, Open Door Centre Primary, Secondary and Parent Support Groups Supporting children and young people dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self harm, grief, bullying and suicidal thoughts…

47 children and 31 parents supported in the last year 14 grown in confidence that they felt happy to move onto other youth/interest groups 6 children have gone from anxiety based school refusers back into mainstream education! 3 families have now had diagnoses of special educational needs meaning they can now access the support they need and deserve 2 over 15s became junior leaders in the primary group!

“I’m very, very grateful to the Haven team for the support, guidance, advice and time they have given not only to both my children, but to me too.” “My son really looks forward to Haven and gets so much from the sessions. He often talks about the circle time and what he has learnt or thought about that week. I want to say thank you. Haven has been brilliant for him. It’s helped him during difficult times and is supporting his mental health by providing a safe space, trusted adults and a whole range of strategies to try.” “The young carers group has been invaluable to my daughter. My son has autism and won’t leave the house so these sessions that my daughter goes to have been amazing for her. The work Haven does with our children is outstanding.”
