Chapter Summary Pages 12-28 1: Land and Water Both the United States and Canada are located in North America. The United States and Canada have many mountain ranges and plains areas. Bodies of water such as the Great Lakes provide transportation and support industry. 2: Climate and Vegetation Climate zones in the United States and Canada range from a desert climate to a polar climate. Varied climates in the United States and Canada help to produce varied vegetation. 3: Resources and Land Use Farmland, forests, water, and minerals are all important resources for the United States and Canada. Natural resources affect the economies of the United States and Canada.
