3+2 Program CUP - ASU: 3+2 Program

3+2 Program: Main Components CUP Students complete first 3-year of undergraduate study in China, and additional one-year of study at ASU and receive a Bachelors degree from CUP Students complete an additional one-year of graduate courses at ASU and receive an MSE from ASU Applicants must be competitive enough to meet ASU undergraduate and graduate admission criteria to be admitted at ASU While the 3+2 Program expects these students to pursue an MSE (no thesis) at ASU, students do have the option to apply for a Master of Science - M.S. option (with thesis) or a Ph.D. program at ASU. The M.S. or Ph.D. options will take longer than one year at ASU.

3+2 Program: General Timeline January – February: CUP will select students as candidates for study at ASU under the 3+2 Program and will inform ASU of the selection sending a list of the students information (including: complete name, Date of Birth, ASU ID number, major students are applying) Before March 15: After successful completion of first three years at CUP, selected students will apply to ASU Undergraduate International Admissions as “degree-seeking” students and will select a specific major at ASU (i.e. Mechanical Engineering) March – May 1st: ASU will evaluate these applications in accordance with ASU’s admission procedures and standards August: Students accepted by ASU will travel to the U.S. and continue their studies at ASU as an international senior undergraduate student After successful completion of first year at ASU, students will transfer credits earned during first year at ASU to CUP. CUP will decide if grants Bachelors degree to student Before end of December: CUP students will submit application for M.S.E. to ASU Graduate College during the first semester at ASU. If student receives Bachelors degree from CUP, his/her application to M.S.E. will be evaluated by ASU

Undergraduate Admissions Requirements Recommended Deadline for 3+2 program: March 15 for the fall semester Each student must submit the following documents before deadline: Via Online: ***select “Degree-Seeking”; “F1 Visa” International Student Application form for Undergraduate Admission: apply online Pay nonrefundable application fee of $55 (fifty five) US dollars Send via regular mail (**ideally, CUP sends one envelope with all applicants’ documents): Certified copies of official transcript from CUP. Include certified English translation of all documents not written in English English proficiency documentation: Official TOEFL score report. Minimum score of 550 (paper based) - 213 (computer based), 79 on iBT (Internet based) or IETS 6.5 (with no band below 5.5) Financial Guarantee that provides evidence of sufficient funds available for the studies in the U.S.

Graduate Admissions Requirements Deadlines varies per Colleges at ASU, Engineering deadlines for: Mechanical Engineering for Fall semester is December 1st Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree prior to the term they enter their graduate program. Applicants will have to submit the following documents to the ASU Graduate College Admissions Office before deadline: Via online: Graduate College Application form: apply online Pay nonrefundable application fee of $90 (ninety) US dollars. 

Graduate Admissions Requirements Send via regular mail: Official letter from CUP confirming granting of Bachelors degree and official transcript if available. Graduate Admissions Requirements Supplemental Materials: Academic units may require supplemental materials as part of the graduate application. Support for 3+2 students at ASU The Office of Global Outreach (http://www.fulton.asu.edu/global/) in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering will support students during the application process and moving to Arizona: Working with the International Undergraduate Admissions Office to facilitate the admission review process and to request any missing document to CUP Mailing Admission letters and I-20 form (for visa) for accepted students to CUP (one envelope) Facilitating the selection and graduate application process for CUP students
