Presentation transcript:

What is 6th grade language arts about? We integrate studies of grammar, mechanics, vocabulary, writing, reading, speaking, and listening into our lessons. We read as writers. Which means we will read A variety of genres-narratives, articles, song lyrics, poetry, videos, photographs, etc. Texts to find support and evidence. Texts to study the style of authors. So that we can answer questions in writing. Texts that will act as a jumping off place of our own writing.

We will write A variety of pieces that will vary in length. For different purposes-entertain, argue, explain, reflect. To practice our studies of grammar, mechanics, and vocabulary by using what we learn in our writing. More than will be graded. So that we can practice communicating orally.
