1 Carrick Assessment Community: David Carrington CSSE2003 Software Engineering Studio 75 students compulsory for BE (Software), nearly for BInfTech Assessment: 3 team assignments with presentations and reports individual programming assignment time monitoring and reflection exam Desired outcome: improve the quality and timeliness of feedback to students on their team reports

2 CSSE2003 mid-semester survey question What feedback on your assignment would you consider most helpful? For this question, think about: what kind of difficulties you had doing the assignment whether you prefer feedback in the form of marks or written comments whether you prefer verbal or written feedback how important is the timing of the feedback

3 Responses 15 written comments vs. 15 marks plus comments Overwhelmingly written (30) vs. verbal Overwhelmingly ASAP on timing (from 42 of the 62 surveys returned) Same question was repeated on the week 13 questionnaire just before final assignment was submitted – no analysis of responses yet
