Presentation transcript:

Project Rollercoaster Group members Jakob Brisby Clint Huxtable Jon Ward Joseph Carboni Rollercoaster name Spiral of Doom

Materials The materials that we used were wood, tubing, plastic funnel, and PVC pipe. To keep everything together we also used drywall screws, twine, wood glue, and super glue. The vessel that is used to run the course is a small BB. All materials used can be found at any local hardware store.

Ideas One initial idea was to have a series of ramps setup to have the BB roll down one ramp and land on another and continue the cycle. This proved to be a problem as we did not have enough wood to complete the series of ramps needed. Another idea that we had was to have a long enough spiral to have the ball roll for exactly 15 seconds and then have the BB stop. This did not fully meet the project specifications that were setup because it was not creative enough.

Final Idea The idea that we ended up using was to have a ramp constructed so that the BB would have enough velocity entering the spiraled tubing to be able to roll the entire length. After exiting the tube it would roll around a funnel and then down a PVC ramp to the end.

Miscellaneous Complications Supports wouldn’t stay up Ball getting stuck inside the tubing Not being able to reach the time constraint Inconsistencies in tubing spacing and smoothness
