Math Unit 1 Chapter 1 Vocabulary Base Ten Numbers

Period- each group of three digits is separated by a comma Period- each group of three digits is separated by a comma. Each period has ones, tens and hundreds.

Standard Form- Numbers in digit form Standard Form- Numbers in digit form. (Digits are any number 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)

Word Form- numbers written in words Word Form- numbers written in words. ( 273, 114 =Two hundred seventy three thousand, one hundred fourteen)

Expanded Form- A number written in values. (235, 471=200,000+30,000+5,000+400+70+1)

Estimate- tells you about how many or how much Estimate- tells you about how many or how much. It is close to an exact number.

Round- to estimate a number. (78 rounds to 80)
