Medical Marijuana The contemporary issue of medical marijuana when analyzing morality, legality, and society.

Definitions Medical Marijuana : A prescribed drug used to treat chronic pain and/or illness. Parkinson’s Disease : A disease of the nervous system that induces tremors, muscle rigidity, and imprecise movement. Deficiency of the neurotransmitter dopamine and degeneration of basal ganglia. Dyskinesia : The abnormality or impairment of voluntary movement. THC : A psychoactive ingredient in marijuana (paranoia, anxiety, drowsiness, etc.) CBD : A non-psychoactive ingredient in marijuana (wakefulness, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic, etc.)

Legality

Americans are subject to prosecution for use of medical marijuana. 100% Americans are subject to prosecution for use of medical marijuana.

Why? The federal government has ruled marijuana as a “Schedule I Controlled Substance” but the control and management of drugs was never clearly defined in the Constitution. Schedule I Controlled Substance : Highest (worst) classification of drugs. High potential for abuse and no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States. Other Schedule I Controlled Substances are heroin, LSD, and ecstasy.

Prosecution ARIZONA Any amount of marijuana is a felony; criminal to be put in jail up to 2 years with a fine of $150,000. FLORIDA Under 20 grams is misdemeanor; any more is third degree felony and up to 5 years in prison.

Leaders Dr. Sanjay Gupta Drug Policy Alliance Authentic Leadership - Records documentaries regarding benefits of medical marijuana Servant Leadership & Transformational Leadership - End goal is to legalize medical marijuana on the federal and state levels

Morality “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad.” Romans 13:1-4
