CCCM Activities DTM of IDP sites including Intention Surveys, Site assessment , planning and improvements, Capacity building – site / open space management; Contingency planning DTM on monthly basis, Contingency Planning - Work with Government to plan for further displacement, including data gathering on all agencies stocks and equipment, and information from all agencies related to assessment of possible new displacement sites, “open spaces”.
DTM Round 3 Updates KTM Valley Information for 284 sites received for assessments (all Districts), 31 active sites within the valley out of 104 total sites within the DTM criteria (20HH+), In KTM 42 sites closed since DTM R2 (mid-June), Hosting 4,506 households & 24,695 persons, Chuchhepati site alone has 1334 HHs / 8000 persons. Updates KTM Valley - Sites 22 sites under public ownership & 9 private, 5 site owners have asked to leave (3 private + 2 publ sites), 21 sites with SMC of some form & 9 without, 93-100% of IDPs used camps for maximum time of the day (day & night), Khwapa Eng College, Bode Mulpani, Jawalakhel ground
Return Intention Survey – KTM Valley Place of origin other districts – KTM (57% ?), Pre-EQ own housing for most in KTM & Bhktapur, Pre-EQ renters 57% IDPs in Lalitpur & 24% KTM, Damaged houses as key reason to live in camp, Majority intend to return to place of origin or habitual residences after monsoon, Housing is the key requirement to return. 314 HHs assessed in KTM, 285 HHs in Bhaktapur and 32 HHs in Lalitpur
Updates KTM Valley - Issues Shelter, mosquito nets & potable water as 3 top needs at KTM valley sites; Potable water 50% to KTM, 75% Bhaktapur and 25% Lalitpur, On-site access to food in Bhaktapur, Agriculture & wage labour as key source of livelihood, On-site security for most site (>70% respondent) Bhaktapur – TATA is providing daily meal to most, Kathmandu (57% no access to food) Livelihood – 85% agri (Bhaktapur), 43% wage labour KTM, 50% other in Lalitpur
Updates KTM Valley - Issues Absence of GON policy on IDP site management in the KTM Valley, IDP numbers keep fluctuating and thus needs, Proper site management missing or weak Lack of interest / budget in site management among agencies,
