Differentiation The purpose of this session is to give you some ideas for differentiation and I will give you some ideas that I have found effective within my classroom.

Differentiated Plenaries I use these to ensure the students reflect on the lesson. These are in the basket and students can pick which one they want to complete. However the coloured ones are the harder ones and students can stretch themselves by completing this. This is one of my weaker students so she picked an easier plenary

Supporting students I give students translations before the lesson to those students that are struggling. They can also write these in their book too and the definition before the lesson.

Students set aims for their lessons – but student who struggle I give a model aim to help give them a focus

I use learning matts to help give students a focus

Supporting students I give students personalised questions to those students that struggle with verbal communication (I use the student support sheets to look at these)

Supporting students I give students writing frames to help them in accessing their question. I have found this to help students in structuring their answers.

Trying to promote English I have a competition with my students e4ach week to see if they can speak in English for the full lesson but I differentiate the tokens I distribute – so some get more than others
