Presentation transcript:

Do Now Take out the activity from yesterday. Respond to questions 1-6. In your groups, please scan through the “orders” I have passed out. These are the instructions that Reinhold Heydrich- high ranking German Nazi officer- sent to all police forces in November 1938. Discuss with your group and everyone must be prepared to share: What is Heydrich ordering the police to do? What part of this plan is the scariest to realize?

Do Now Take out the WHIL due today. We are going to have a Holocaust survivor come and speak to us in a couple of weeks. I know it’s early, but please sign your name (first name only) using the sharpies on the back table. This will be a thank you for him. Please write neatly and small.

Kristallnact “Broken Glass” November 9-10, 1938 Members of the Nazi Party and other Nazi formations burned synagogues looted Jewish homes and businesses killed at least 91 Jews in Germany and areas occupied by the German forces. The Gestapo arrested approximately 30,000 Jewish men and imprisoned them in the Dachau, Sachsenhausen, and Buchenwald concentration camps.

Activity With your group, read about the events of Kristallnact. Tree diagram: Trunk: What happened? Where? When? Branches: Who? Record the names of individuals and groups involved in the event. Roots: Why? Record the factors that may have influenced the choices made by individuals and groups in this event.
