Sophomores Nasia Haque ’11 (in photo) and Nick Bottenus ’11 identified the need for moisture level checking in common household and garden plants. They developed together a wireless soil moisture sensing system which probed plant moisture levels and allowed a user to remotely check that level. Their design allowed for quick access to reliable numerical water levels for several different plants at a time. Students Preeyanka Shah ’09 and Vedrana Novosel ’09 in the first newly designed Microelectronics course demonstrate their digital clock. This clock featured a temperature display on the front panel as well as AM/PM capability, audio speaker, and alarm. The Microelectronics course presents students with an infrared wireless schematic (left) which is the be built into a printed circuit board circuit (right). With this basis, students are required to construct their own unique project designs by the end of the semester.
