United States History II Road Map for Success: The 1990s   The 1990s will indelibly be remembered as a decade of reaching new frontiers and shattering old traditions. In the world of medicine, technology, science, economics, and the law, sweeping changes occurred under the leadership of George H.W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton. A new technological revolution truly transformed society. During the Clinton presidency the major goals were budget cuts, health care reforms, welfare reforms, global trade and peace in the Middle East. Despite the Clinton presidency’s numerous successes, the legacy of President Clinton administration will forever be marred by his 1998 impeachment. The vast innovations and advancements that occurred in the 1990s catapulted the nation and the world into the new millennia and beyond. How did the United States adjust to such radical change? How did the world adjust? These questions and more will be answered in this unit! You will master the following learning standards:   USII.30 Describe some of the major economic and social trends of the late 20th century. USII.31 Analyze the important domestic policies and events of the Clinton presidency. USII.33 Analyze the course and consequence of America’s recent diplomatic initiatives.
