Research Databases Continued
Key Terms for Databases There are some terms you should be familiar with that will help you use EBSCOHost to your best advantage. “Full text”—The entire text of an article. Not a summary or a clipping. The length of the articles all depends on how much the author wrote. This could be a one page newspaper article to a several hundred page case study! “Peer Reviewed”—The author of the article has sent their work to be checked by other respected and knowledgeable members of their field. Those people have edited the article and given feedback on how it can be improved. Most importantly, they are validating that the research conducted and information presented are accurate. “Journal”—a collection of articles that have to do with a similar topic. The title of the journal will give you an idea of what area the topics will be focused on.
