History Galileo discovered Saturn in1610 by looking through his telescope. Saturn was named after the Greek god Saturnus. In the background there is a picture of Saturn’s symbol.

Solar System Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. Saturn is 1.4 billion km from the sun. The orbital period of Saturn is 29.45 years. Saturn’s rotation is 10 hours and 39 minutes.
