What has the RCPCH done to facilitate this? Pilot new clinical MRCPCH examination- CYP involvement We’ve also had the first scenario used at START last month which was developed from a young person’s real life experience. The next plan is to see how we can involve CYP in the START Assessment itself but this is likely to happen over the next 1-2 years (hopefully).

Exams Team have maintained CYP involvement in the delivery of MRCPCH and DCH Clinical examinations since their inception This has included patient and parent questionnaires at centres and recognition of their contribution through issuing certificates
Upcoming relevant to Education and Training Supporting next steps from the clinical exams pilot to explore how CYP can be actively engaged in sharing feedback in a structured and standardised way Development of the revalidation project in the new year to work with CYP to identify new approaches to trial for RCPCH revalidation (£5k external funding sourced) In the new year working with the RCPCH Progress team to develop the engagement proposal for next steps for strategic voice Working with the Shape of Training communication and engagement work stream

Recent RCPCH key projects CEO Recruitment – sessions with Odgers, YP on the tender presentation panel, beneficiary trustee on the appointments panel, long list candidates invited to meet YP on 18.11.17 with an &Us Panel on 10.01.18 Takeover 18 series – Corporate Services “Archives” takeover with 30 children aged 8 looking at child health past / present / future YP led mental health roundtable in Belfast run by young people following a summer takeover challenge. 15 health decision makers in attendance looking at mental health awareness, training and funding Young Inspectors – 3 hospitals visited by young people to look at their approach and compliance to standards around discharge information as part of the RCPCH “Facing the Future” standards PAFTAs training / judging – young people trained to assess awards for RCPCH. Judging on 9 Dec. Safer Working Practices with CYP training dates 17th Jan / 1 May (page 124 in learning directory) this covers what is required for any face to face activity including work experience, CYPF reps at committees. Can also arrange a session for the division if you would prefer – min 60 min session.
