IMPERATIVES Use imperatives to give ORDERS and INSTRUCTIONS. + Positive imperatives: VERB (INFINITIVE) Open your books. - Negative imperatives: DON’T + VERB (INFINITIVE) Don’t use a pencil. Add PLEASE to be polite. Open your books, please.

IMPERATIVES We often use BE + VERB. Be quiet. Be careful. Don’t use PRONOUNS with imperatives. Stop the car. NOT You stop the car. Turn right. Don’t speak.
